To Post or Not to Post…

I’m sitting here with a piece of imperfect cake trying to decide whether to post the recipe or not.  You see it’s very yummy, but it didn’t meet my expectations.  This is what happens when you make up recipes sometimes.  I think I’ll keep messing around with the recipe until it’s perfect. Here’s a little picture to tease you in the meantime…

I had a can of peaches in the pantry just begging to be used. Problem is, when the cake was cooked all my yummy peach mixture sank to the bottom of the cake.  Still super yummy but not the look I was going for.  I’ll try again next week and tweak it until it’s perfect!!

And the lighting today was just not working in my favor.  I could not take a good photo no matter how hard I tried!

But, we did have fun!!

And I even managed to squeeze in some kitten cuddles while the cake was baking. Score! Max fell asleep while playing kitty ninja… biting, kicking, full on playing one minute.. then boom. KO’d!

Hope you are all having a blessed day!! xx

    1. Haha thanks! Maybe. Gonna dig in tonight and see how it tastes with salted caramel ice cream first! Oh, who am I kidding… everything tastes good with salted caramel ice cream! 😛

  3. Here’s a hint: both the peaches and the syrup are really heavy. That’s probably why they sank. Next time, rinse the peaches, dry them and toss them in a bit of the flour from your cake mixture. Toss them into the cake at the last minute before baking. The flour should help keep them from sinking to the bottom. 😉

    1. Thank you, I did try dry them out and toss some flour on them but obviously not enough. They had a mind of their own. 😊

I’m so glad that you posted this recipe, the picture of an “imperfect” cake. It makes me feel better. And you know what: As long as it tastes good, it really doesn’t matter that much how it looks like (of course it would be good if the looks would fit the taste but hey… in the end it sits in your stomach anyway…).

    1. Oh trust me we have imperfect things come out of the kitchen all the time! But it’s usually only superficial and not as pretty as I would like it to be. Still gets gobbled up all the same! Thanks!

The only way I was able to photograph lightning was to take a video and then edit out a picture. It was really cool. Otherwise, I think you need professional equipment.
I love cake and peaches, but I never thought of putting peaches in a cake. Yum!

    1. Wow, that sounds really cool! Great idea to take a video and then capture a photo. Thanks. It’s funny because I used to make a peach cake all the time when we had guests but do you think I can find my recipe?! Guess it will take a while to figure it out again. 😊 It was still yummy though!!!

  14. Have you tried adding the peaches just as the cake begins to solidify? It may provide a firmer base for the fruit.
